Here’s what I typically focus on as a Scrum Master:
- → Facilitating Scrum Events: Running or facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- → Project Management: Managing the project using tools like Jira, Asana, Notion, Monday, Trello, or other task management tools.
- → Defining and Tracking Goals: Setting and tracking Product Goals and Sprint Goals.
- → Monitoring Team Velocity: Keeping an eye on the team’s velocity to ensure productivity.
- → Removing Impediments in the development process: Identifying and eliminating obstacles that hinder the team from achieving the Sprint Goal.
- → Managing Workflow Metrics (if team moves to Kanban): Overseeing WIP limits, cycle time, throughput, and other key workflow metrics.
- → Team leadership, education and support in implementing Scrum/ Agile practices and and making independent decisions on what to work on next (remote)
- → Stakeholder management and communication – “translation” between internal team communication and goals and business needs of the stakeholders
